Mammary augmentation (increase, implants)

Breast augmentation by mammary implants is the only method which can correct the mammary atrophy and asymmetry, as well as first degree ptosis (small breasts, slightly drooping).

Indications:
  • Brest increase (augmentation) for aesthetic means (small or atrophied breasts, slightly drooping);
  • Immediate or late reconstruction of breasts following mastectomies (after mammary cancer) or following traumatisms;
  • Congenital anomalies.

Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity (allergies) to foreign bodies and/or antecedents of other implat rejections;
  • Pregnancy or breast feeding;
  • Malignant breast affections still under treatment;
  • Radioderm or radionecrosis on the irradiated areas;
  • Collagen diseases;
  • Untreated infections or abscess;
  • Patients with mental disorders.

Types of implants used: implants with silicone cohesive gel (round or anatomic); there are other types of implants, but following research made all around the world, the ones we used have proved to be the best, not producing mammary cancer. We work with the Mentor Company (www.proteze-mamare.ro).

The size of the implant (diameter, anterior projection): are determined during the examination, based on the mathematic measurements made by the doctor and based on the patient's wish.

The risks and complications of the surgical and complications are rare and are presented by the plastic surgeon and the aenesthesist during the examination and on the agreement form.

The final result depends on the quality of the surgical intervention but also on the reactivity (cicatrisation) of each organism and the way in which the patient is respecting the post-op indications.

The general section is added to the above information.

The procedure:
  • The procedure is made under total anesthesia and lasts around 1-2 hours;
  • The incision through which the implant is inserted can be made in the inframammary ridge, on the areole or through the armpit, being 4-5 cm long;
  • The implant may be positioned under the mammary gland or under the pectoral. We prefer the incision made in the inframammary ridge and the insertion of the implant under the pectoral, due to its many advantages, which were demonstrated in many studies made worldwide. The incision, the positioning and the advantages of each method will be settled during the consultation;
  • The hospitalization lasts one day.
  • Post-op, there may occur a slight discomfort during the first 1-2 days, which will ameliorate and the disappear under anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory treatment;
  • The stitches are removed after 12-14 days;
  • A special brassiere (which you will receive as a gift from us) will be worn for 2 months post-op, which will insure the optimum result of breast positioning.

The examinations must be made monthly during the first 3 months, and then once every 6 months in the first 2 years and once a year in the following years.
